At the age of 26, Mathias Hevert took over the management of the family business Hevert-Arzneimittel after the sudden death of his father in March 2003.

Mathias Hevert studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden with a degree in economics and a Master’s in International Management. Alongside his business activities, he later decided to do a Master’s course in Consumer Health Care at the Charité-University Medicine Berlin, earning a Master’s degree in Consumer Health Care.

During his studies, Mathias Hevert worked with a pharmaceutical company and a brand strategy consulting firm in Switzerland and also for a bank and a manufacturer of special chemicals in the United States.

The Managing Director has set for himself the objective of expanding the company's position in the German pharmaceutical market and to make it an internationally renowned natural medicine company.

Hevert-Arzneimittel works for naturopathy-friendly regulatory conditions as well as the recognition and acceptance of naturopathic medicines. From 2004 to 2018, Mathias Hevert was board member of the German Medicines Manufacturers' Association (BAH) in Germany, where he represented the interests of manufacturers of natural remedies.

Since April 2013, Mathias has been a member of the board of management of ECHAMP (European Coalition on Homeopathic and Anthroposophic Medicinal Products). As an internationally active specialist in homeopathic medicines, it is of great strategic importance to the family-run company to increase the acceptance and awareness of naturopathic medicines at the EU level.

His brother, Marcus Hevert, has been supporting him in management since 2014. While Mathias Hevert is additionally responsible for marketing, sales, exports, science, and national and European policy, his brother Marcus Hevert is responsible for production, logistics, administration, regional policy and the quality unit of the company.

Marcus Hevert focused his studies on marketing and international relations. After school, university and several internships in Great Britain, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, the business economist returned to his hometown of Nussbaum and took on the role of Managing Director at Hevert-Arzneimittel in 2014. However, before joining his brother Mathias in managing the company, it was important to him to get to know all areas of Hevert-Arzneimittel, which he did by working in all departments during a trainee program.

He is responsible for production, logistics, administration and the quality unit of the company. Marcus Hevert is an active point of contact for the regional politics of Rhineland-Palatinate. He is a member of the decision-making committee of the LAG Soonwald/Nahe (Local Action Group) and the Future Initiative Rhineland-Palatinate (Zukunftsinitiative Rheinland-Pfalz e.V. - ZIRP). At the German Medicines Manufacturers’ Association (Bundesverband der Arzneimittel-Hersteller - BAH), he was part of the Economics and Region working group until 2018.
As second alderman of the Nussbaum municipal council and council member of the Nahe-Glan association of municipalities, Marcus Hevert also plays an active role in local politics.

Stephanie Schmitz

In 1986, Stephanie Schmitz finished her apprenticeship as assistant tax consultant at the tax office Pohl-Ziemer where she afterwards worked for several years. Alongside her work, she concentrated on her professional development: she trained to become an accountant and later she graduated in business administration receiving the German Chamber of Commerce certification.

In summer 2000, Stephanie started working for Hevert-Arzneimittel as head of the finance and human resources department. At the beginning of 2002, she was granted power of attorney and the position of Commercial Manager.

In July 2009, Stephanie became head of the department Company Services at Hevert which is her current position. She oversees the areas finances, controlling, IT, human resources and facility management. The business economist is responsible for the provision of financial and human resources, the maintenance and development of the infrastructure as well as the financial and liquidity management or the on-going optimization of the finance, controlling and cost accounting system.

Dr. Ralf Weirich

Dr. Ralf Weirich studied chemistry at the universities Düsseldorf and Würzburg and completed his studies in 1993 with a doctorate. During his work for Dr. Schwabe GmbH Karlsruhe, Merz Pharmaceuticals GmbH and Finzelberg GmbH & Co.KG, he developed an extensive knowledge of international cooperation and got to know the scientific area as well as the challenges of the pharmaceutical industry.

In June 2009, Dr. Ralf Weirich started as Head of the Marketing/Sales/Export department at Hevert-Arzneimittel where he is able to combine all of his skills. This area of responsibility includes the management of all marketing, sales and export activities, the coordination of service providers, national and international distribution partners and suppliers as well as the identification and opening up of markets – always with a focus on optimum customer service and information. Significant growth at Hevert-Arzneimittel led to the decision to split the Marketing/Sales/Export department into a Marketing department and a National and International Sales department. From January 01, 2018, Dr. Ralf Weirich is responsible for the National and International Sales department. At the moment, the main focus of his field of activities is the development of potential markets in foreign countries as determined by Hevert.

Dr. Weirich has been supporting the company’s export efforts at the association level (German Medicines Manufacturers’ Association – BAH, Chamber of Industry and Commerce – IHK) since 2009.True to the company mission of the pharmaceutical manufacturer Hevert-Arzneimittel, the goal is to make the natural remedies with very few side effects available to practitioners, pharmacies and patients all over the world.

Thomas Gutheil

After graduating from high school, finishing his military service and his apprenticeship as a banker, Thomas Gutheil studied business administration with a focus on marketing and taxation at the university Bayreuth. Already during his studies, he put an emphasis on marketing by, for example, completing several internships.
In 1997, Thomas Gutheil began his professional career in the product management of the company Wella in Darmstadt. Until 2004, he was responsible for the national and international marketing of several brands and brand portfolios. From 2004 to the end of 2010, he worked for the company Procter & Gamble with the individual brand teams for hair care brands in the regions Germany/Austria/Switzerland and West Europe. In 2011, Thomas Gutheil founded a start-up company in the beauty industry and also worked as a marketing consultant.

Based on his twenty years of experience in marketing, Thomas Gutheil has a broad strategic and operative knowledge of B2B and B2C marketing. This includes areas such as market and competitive analyses, strategic brand management, definition and execution of the marketing mix and the leadership of multifunctional-oriented brand teams.

Since November 2017, Thomas Gutheil is head of the marketing team at Hevert in Nussbaum and Berlin. His ambition is to lead the Hevert brand – an established brand for over 60 years now – successfully into the future. His goal is to create a modern and competitive marketing approach together with his team and in cooperation with all Hevert employees as well as external partners.

Carsten Büttner

Carsten Büttner started his professional career with a scientific apprenticeship as laboratory technician at Boehringer Ingelheim. The areas water chemistry, energy technology and environmental protection soon became his fields of expertise. Alongside his career, he trained as state-certified process automation engineer and technical business economist. He focussed on communication with authorities, energy management, production planning and control, logistical market supply as well as several IT projects. Since 2003, the topic “coding” is at the top of Carsten Büttner’s agenda.

His experience regarding automation, standardization, and coding led to him becoming a member of the expert team and later on co-founder of the organizations securPharm e. V. and ACS PharmaProtect GmbH. He contributed to the development of a solution for the counterfeit protection of medicinal products which has been on the market since 2013.

With 15 years of experience in the OTC business, Carsten Büttner started to work at Hevert in September 2017. There he supports the business development in the areas Supply Chain Management, Production and Purchasing.

Dr. rer. nat. Tilmann Laun

Head of Quality Operations / Qualified Person

Dr. Tilmann Laun’s main task as head of Quality Operations and Qualified Person is the establishment and development of a GMP-compliant quality management. This includes planning and designing GMP trainings, qualification of suppliers, contract manufacturers, contract laboratories and service-providers in the GxP-related environment as well as consulting and supporting internal and external clients regarding quality-critical questions.

In 1996, Tilmann completed his studies of pharmacy at the Johannes-Gutenberg University Mainz with the German license to practice as a pharmacist, the so-called approbation. A doctorate followed in summer 1999. After working as speaker for education and training at the Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists and as Manager Quality Assurance and Contract Manufacturing at InfectoPharm GmbH, the pharmacist and passionate recreational pilot became part of the Hevert team in 2004. His task is to integrate the measures for quality assurance in a company-wide quality management system.

From 2005 to 2018, Tilmann Laun represented Hevert-Arzneimittel in the Pharmaceutical Technical Committee of the German Medicines Manufacturers‘ Association (BAH). The committee’s work covers the whole area of production and testing of medicinal products. This includes the discussion, interpretation and commenting of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP rules) as well as its regulatory design with the core topics quality assurance including standard operating procedures, validation (process, analytics, computers) and pharmaceutical contracts.

Anika Weisert

In July 2016, Anika Weisert, a pharmacist with a license to practice, became part of the Hevert team. Before that, she worked in international companies such as Merck and Novartis in different leading positions. She has extensive management experience in the areas research and development (clinical development) and commerce (global procurement, controlling, human resources, IT).

Scientific and Regulatory Affairs is a combination of the departments Medical Scientific Affairs, Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs and constitutes the scientific unit of the company. The goal of the department is to ensure that the Hevert products are marketable and competitive, that internal and external clients are optimally supported in medical and scientific matters and that the medical and scientific expertise and reputation remains secured and is further developed.
