Surprise donation for “help for self-help” project in Burkina Faso

60 years of Hevert-Arzneimittel and 10 years of commitment to Schulbausteine für Gando e. V. – the double anniversary is celebrated with a surprise donation of 60,000 euros. Hevert shows its support for the association via the campaign “Together for Children”: For every package of medicine sold, Hevert donates a percentage to Schulbausteine für Gando e. V. This way, a primary school, a library and a secondary school were able to be built over the years.

On the occasion of the Anniversary Specialist Conference in September, Francis Kéré, Harvard professor and founder of the association, personally visited the pharmaceutical manufacturer in Nussbaum. It was a great pleasure for the two Managing Directors Marcus and Mathias Hevert and their sister Sarah Hevert, Chairperson of the Hevert-Foundation, to present the donation check of 60,000 euros to their long-time partner and friend Kéré on the occasion of the company’s anniversary. Kéré could hardly believe the amount of the donation and was visibly touched and happy when he thanked everyone that made a contribution to this generous donation.

Campaign “Together for children” now via Hevert-Foundation

Kéré, the award winning architect, – who received the worldwide most important architecture prize “Aga Khan Award for Architecture” – stated that he wanted to increase his commitment in Burkina Faso. With the generous donation by Hevert, Kéré plans to build sanitary facilities in all parts of his scattered home village Gando to further improve the hygiene and health situation. He also has the idea to build a standard home with a modular structure that can be adapted to individual needs.

From now on, the Hevert Foundation – which was founded by Sarah, Marcus and Mathias Hevert in October 2015 – will support Kéré in his endeavors. In addition to the business activity of the Hevert family, the Hevert-Foundation now aims to improve the Hevert projects in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility and to support less fortunate regions and people according to the purpose of the foundation: the promotion of health in humans and nature.

10 years of commitment to Schulbausteine für Gando e. V.

The family business Hevert-Arzneimittel celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2016. This means six decades of commitment to naturopathy, environmental protection, sustainable business practices, and acting responsibly with respect to its employees and community.

Hevert has been supporting the association Schulbausteine für Gando with donations for ten years. Managing Director Mathias Hevert fondly remembers how the project came about in 2006: “We wanted to do more than just donate to various aid organizations and receive a donation receipt as we had done in previous years. This is why we had been looking for a charity project where we can actively participate. When I saw Francis Kéré first on TV and then met him by chance on a train, it was clear that we had found the right project. We were immediately able to identify with the sustainable development projects of Francis Kéré where the rural population in Burkina Faso is actively involved and natural materials such as clay are used. This way we can support help for self-help. My family and I plan to travel to Burkina Faso again soon so that we can see the progress made in the village.”
