Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Hevert Awarded Employer Certification “Top Job”

At Hevert-Arzneimittel GmbH & Co. KG, every effort is made for employees to feel good and the Hevert management team to be seen as committed. This has now also been officially confirmed: Ex Vice-Chancellor of Germany Sigmar Gabriel has awarded the “Top Job” employer certification to the specialist in naturopathic preparations. As patron of the national comparison of companies, he commended the remarkable, healthy and high-performance workplace culture. Here is the Video about it.

Hevert-Arzneimittel GmbH & Co. KG is one of the best employers in Germany. This has now been officially confirmed by the Center for Employer Attractiveness (zeag GmbH) following a scientifically-sound employee and management survey. Every year, this institution awards the most attractive employers among German medium-sized companies, and Hevert is one of them. The manufacturer and specialist in naturopathic preparations is beloved by its employees particularly for its family orientation and transparent communication.

Hevert is one of the leading German manufacturers of homeopathic and herbal medicines as well as micronutrient preparations. The family company has existed for 65 years and is being managed in the third generation. Worldwide, Hevert is one of the top ten manufacturers of homeopathic preparations. Over 100 naturopathic preparations are marketed by the 220 employees at the company headquarters in Nussbaum, close to the Rhine-Main region and Mainz, and in the Berlin office. “Our employees are the key to our success”, emphasizes Managing Director Mathias Hevert, “their satisfaction is very important to us. This makes us even happier to be awarded the employer certification. It confirms that we are on the right path.” The certification is considered a benchmark in Germany. The results of the survey conducted by the Institute for Leadership and Human Resources Management of the University of St. Gallen provide the family company with an independent gauge of its management style and strengthen Hevert in its corporate strategy: The employees expressly praised the exceptionally high family friendliness and the management's active, transparent communication.

“The managing directors are young parents themselves,” reports Thomas Buss, HR manager, “so you have a sympathetic ear when it comes to family matters.” Different parental leave models are therefore not a problem at Hevert, as well as childcare at Hevert's own daycare center, for which the company already received the “Fair Family” seal of approval from the Verband kinderreicher Familien Deutschland (association of families with many children) in 2018. With its versatile, flextime variants, the company also helps employees to optimally combine their working and private life. “Equal opportunities are something we don't just pay lip service to,” emphasizes co-managing director Marcus Hevert. “30% of the top management positions in the company are currently occupied by women, which is above the national average.”

Value-Oriented Corporate Culture is Practiced

Mutual respect, appreciation, and recognition are important values in everyday working life at Hevert. This also includes open communication by the management. Three times a year, the management informs all employees about current figures and developments in the company. A regularly-updated revenue barometer is hanging on display for the employees, and the development of the top preparations is also communicated. “If you work at Hevert, you know exactly how well the company is doing financially,” comments Thomas Buss.

And there is another characteristic that makes Hevert stand out as a remarkable employer: To make the unity and practiced flat hierarchies visible, employees at Hevert – from the trainee to the top management – wear blue and white work clothing. “So here it is not immediately apparent whether you are standing opposite the head of department or the cleaner. We want to see the person first, and then the function,” explains the HR manager Buss.

Employee Feedback is Always Useful

Hevert also carries out an internal employee satisfaction survey every year. The results are transparently communicated and discussed, so that improvement measures can be implemented. The Top Job team also wants to continue doing the employee surveys even during the Coronavirus period. “Our studies show that even – and in particular – good employers in times of crisis should know what state the company’s work environment is in. Qualified feedback is the basis for a strong, crisis-resistant corporate culture,” reports Prof. Heike Bruch. The renowned Swiss director of the Institute for Leadership and Human Resources Management of the University of St. Gallen and her team are responsible for the scientific management of the benchmarking.

In 2020, which was characterized by the coronavirus pandemic, 45 medium-sized companies performed very well in the comparison of companies. They can now carry the employer certification for the next two years. 57% of these employers are family companies. Out of the certified companies, 37% are national market leaders, and 5% are world market leaders. On average, the companies employ 272 members of staff, and the percentage of women in management roles is 23% on average. All certified employers can be found on www.Topjob.de .
