Homeopathic complex remedies as developed by Emanuel Felke

Complex homeopathy is a further development of the homeopathic healing process discovered by Samuel Hahnemann. In contrast to classical homeopathy, in which only one active substance is prescribed, several drugs are combined in one medicine in homeopathic complex drugs. The carefully selected individual components complement each other in relation to a particular disease, so that it can be treated holistically. The substances have a synergistic effect, that is, they enhance each other.

Treatment with homeopathic complex drugs started in the middle of the 19th century and can now refer to its own long tradition of use. Complex drugs are characterized by their gentle and reliable mode of action. They are generally well tolerated and have very few side effects. They are often used for acute medical conditions such as colds and are well suited for self-treatment.

One difficulty of classical homeopathy developed by Hahnemann is the elaborate, individual identification of suitable homeopathic single medicines tailored to the respective patient. In addition, sometimes several agents must be taken at the same time or one after the other for the various symptoms of a disease, for example, for the flu. Since complex drugs cover a wide range of symptoms, no special skills are required to use them for many health problems. In cases of more severe diseases or chronic illness, homeopathic complex drugs can be used selectively by the doctor or practitioner to achieve improvement over the long term for these cases, too.

The famous German naturopath Pastor Emanuel Felke (1856-1926), who is also called the father of complex homeopathy, made Hahnemann's homeopathy accessible to everyone. During his decades-long career treating patients, Felke began increasingly to combine single homeopathic remedies with each other, using the writings of Hahnemann and other important naturopaths. Finally, he came to the realization that the most complex disease states of his patients were most effectively treated with drug combinations. As a result, he developed numerous complex remedies which he adapted to specific conditions. However, Felke did not understand these as fixed medical conditions in the modern sense, but—in the sense of a holistic therapy—typical, frequently observed general disorders of the human body.
