Corporate social responsibility report 2018 – Hevert Arzneimittel has its finger on the pulse with commitment to employees

Hevert-Arzneimittel has published its eighth corporate social responsibility report. Hevert would like to openly set out for all stakeholders, especially its customers, how the issue of sustainability is experienced within the company and to motivate partners in their efforts to become sustainable. The aim is to have a beacon function in regards to environmental protection, sustainable business practices, and acting responsibly with respect to employees and the community. This report is an important step to achieve this goal.

Countering the skills shortage

“In 2018, we had our finger on the pulse with our employee responsibility activities,” explains Mathias Hevert, Managing Director of Hevert-Arzneimittel. Not every company has managed to counter the skills shortage. “Hevert would not be the successful company it is today without our dedicated employees. Our collaboration is based on trust, transparency, team spirit, and motivation. We can achieve great success only if we all pull together.” Hevert believes it is important to attract and retain qualified employees, experts, and managers. Established occupational health management, 60 flexible working-time model variants, and the Hevert Daycare Center are examples of the family business’s efforts to give its employees the best possible help in striking the right balance between work and family life.

Mathias Hevert (right) and his brother Marcus Hevert (left) regard transparency, team spirit, and motivation as the basis for in-house collaboration.

“When hiring, we regard diversity as an asset and one of our company’s great strengths,” adds Marcus Hevert, Co-Managing Director. The family business has trusted in equal opportunities since its founding and has always had a high percentage of women on staff, including in key management positions. 30% of the top management positions in the company are currently occupied by women. Hevert also values an international perspective among its employees, and employs people from seven different cultures. This is a huge asset for a company that wants to assert itself in the export business.

Its special commitment to employees won two accolades in 2018:

  • The Ministry of Economics (Wirtschaftsministerium), the Investitions- und Strukturbank Rheinland-Pfalz (ISB), and the Rhineland-Palatinate Chambers recognized the sum of all activities in the HR policy and the special commitment with the “Attractive Employer Rhineland-Palatinate” prize.
  • Specifically for the Hevert Daycare Center, the pharmaceutical company received the “Fair Family” seal of approval of the Verband kinderreicher Familien Deutschland e.V. (association of families with many children) as a model company for family friendliness.
