Sustainable Development Goals – the 2017 Hevert Sustainability Report

The just released 2017 Hevert Sustainability Report reveals which specific goals and measures are hiding behind the Hevert sustainable development strategy. The United Nation’s (UN) Sustainable Development Goals are one of the things serving as a basis for the medicinal product manufacturer’s sustainability concept.

The United Nations (UN) has established 17 political objectives with 169 subgoals that should serve to ensure sustainable development on an economic, social, and environmental level. The goals are part of the 2030 Agenda and officially went into effect on January 1, 2016. They apply to all UN member states and all UN member states must implement them. The 17 goals are as follows:

1. No Poverty
2. Zero Hunger
3. Good Health and Well-Being
4. Quality Education
5. Gender Equality
6. Clean Water and Sanitation
7. Affordable and Clean Energy
8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
10. Reduced Inequalities
11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
12. Responsible Production and Consumption
13. Climate Action
14. Life Below Water
15. Life on Land
16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
17. Partnership for the Goals

The exact definition of these goals can be derived from the 169 subgoals.

Hevert-Arzneimittel aligns itself with these goals with regard to its orientation towards sustainability. With the creation of its sustainability report and its orientation towards international standards and the 17 goals of the United Nations, the medium-sized family-run company makes a voluntary contribution that far exceeds legal requirements. Many CSR work groups play a part in the implementation of the sustainable development strategy at Hevert and every single employee contributes. The term CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) describes companies’ societal responsibility as it relates to sustainable business practices.

"We want to motivate our partners and other companies in their efforts to achieve greater sustainability as well," explains Mathias Hevert, Managing Director of Hevert-Arzneimittel. “The aim of our family business is to have a beacon function in regards to environmental protection, sustainable business practices, and acting responsibly with respect to employees and the community. In this way, we do our part to make Agenda 2030 a reality."
